Practical Steps for Accessibility
Online Presence:
Alt Text for Images: Crucial for screen readers used by blind/visually impaired users.
Clear Navigation: Simple, uncluttered websites are easier for everyone, especially those with dyslexia or learning disabilities.
No Form Timeouts: Allows users with processing delays to complete forms without losing their work.
Non offensive language: ask for feedback, include a paragraph about your intent and open the dialogue to improve language use.
Physical Premises:
Clear Pathways: Keep spaces free of clutter to allow easy movement for wheelchair users and others.
Functional Toilets: Ensure accessible toilets are not used for storage (e.g., broom cupboards).
Working Lifts: Regular maintenance is essential.
